Bubba is the philosophy of SLOOP — play with your hands, zero factory
patterns — stretched from 4 to 8 tracks (7 synths + drums), with a looper on every
track and a slicer that works on the device itself. It’s signed by Erbubar23, a
Spanish-speaking author: the manual (MANUAL_BUBBA.md) is in Spanish, an absolute rarity in
this scene. It lives as the bubba branch of the SLOOP repo.
Workflow
Live jamming, loop-based production, sampling and slicing your own recordings, sequenced tracks loaded with chords. The 2.0 reorganized everything onto a single screen: header/module/keyboard strip/knobs, color-coded. Long steps, NUDGE, fills, quick chaining and per-step chance; a filter per track. CHORD+ mode brings strum and voicing-lead, and step editing by full chord (MOVE by scale degrees, TYPE, INV) shows the chord’s name on screen.
Engines & what it emulates
Nine SLOOP/Felucca engines, with FM6 and DX7 SysEx import — and two simultaneous FM6 tracks (9 factory patches). 38 drum kits: sampled acoustic, 32 synthesized in 808/909, phonk, amapiano and UK garage style, plus Felucca’s 5 analog kits and 3 user kits. And the SAMPLER: load a recording from the editor, cut it into chops on the device, play them on 16 pads and sequence them like a drum kit.
What sets it apart
- A looper on every track: each track records and sustains its own loop.
- Per-sound mutes and volumes inside the kit; per-step levels (ghost/soft/norm/acc).
- Versioned storage that migrates data forward.
- The release notes carry explicit Claude Code co-authorship, out in the open.
Status & caveats
Stable and very active (1.1 and 2.0 on consecutive days). The big warning: installing 2.0 wipes everything saved on first boot — projects, samples, presets, the FM6 bank, settings and calibration. From 2.0 on, updates keep your data. If you’re coming from SLOOP, back up with the SLOOP editor before you jump.
