Optimist doesn’t hand you a firmware: it hands you the question — which one is yours? It’s a
modular platform with a compile-time builder — make builder — where you assemble your
image by choosing engines, drum kits, effects, and sequencer features within your flash and RAM
budget. On a chip where every byte counts, choosing what goes in isn’t a luxury: it’s half the
design.
What it does
The menu inherits from the whole family: the ANALOG 2, DIGITAL, PHASE, LOFI, SAMPLE, VOICE, TRIO, WHEEL, GRAIN, FM6, SLICE, PHYS, and ACID engines, plus configurable kits, FX, and sequencer. The base comes from SLOOP/Felucca/Melodee/X0X and it’s compatible with SLOOP 2.4 projects — you don’t start from scratch when you come back.
Status
Upcoming: build and flash via CLI/Docker only, no precompiled installer yet. Created on October 8 — the youngest entry in the catalog — and a natural candidate for the hub as soon as it ships releases. See SLOOP and Melodee for the DNA donors; the ecosystem for the full map.
