Based onSLOOP 2.4
Emulates / engines
  • DX7: up to 12 voice banks imported as .syx cartridges, renamed and sorted from the web editor
  • Dexed-core FM6 with SysEx import, same as SLOOP
  • SLOOP 2.4's 37 kits: 5 sampled acoustic + 32 synthesized, plus user kits

SLOOP 2.4 carrying up to twelve DX7 voice banks inside the device, managed from the web editor: you import .syx cartridges, delete, move, sort, and name banks; new ones are “claimed by slot” and existing ones are respected across upgrades. On top of that it inherits SLOOP 2.4.1 with presets browsable by type (hold HOME + PRESETS, KIND knob — an idea Jangada debuted).

Workflow

Groovebox work loaded with DX7 patches: carry a cartridge library in your pocket and switch banks without a computer. Install: the test .fwsc via the SLOOP/Felucca installer or tools/fm1_install.py.

Engines & what it emulates

The complete SLOOP 2.4 set, Dexed-core FM6 included — the fork’s work isn’t a new engine but the storage and naming layer for the 12 banks, which is exactly what the FM-1 was missing to be your DX7 librarian.

What sets it apart

  • A dedicated DX7 card in the editor: import, move, sort, and rename banks.
  • b23 adds an FX→KEEP page (PHONE/TAPE/HALF as ON/OFF + a RESET knob).
  • Upgrade-order notes per release — straight to the point: “install over build 18, not 19.”

Status & caveats

Test builds — even the community hub warns “back up first.” Coming from a 2.3-DX7 test build, the 2.4 flash layout wipes the banks and you have to re-import them. Active from 10-06 to 10-08, silent since. And Drey Andersson’s dismissal from 10-06 (“a flat copy of SLOOP”) is now obsolete: the bank functionality did land in the 10-08 test builds. The natural pair to compare against is sloopDX, which prefers a single well-tuned DX7 engine.
