Based onFelucca
Emulates / engines
  • Moog: 4-pole 24 dB/oct transistor ladder with saturated feedback (ANALOG engine)
  • DX7: FM6 on the Dexed/msfa core, 32 algorithms, two 32-voice banks in flash, live two-way editing with Dexed
  • Brazilian percussion: MANGUE kit (alfaia, zabumba, gonguê, agogô, cuíca) with maracatu/baião/coco beats
  • Drum machines: 32 synthesized 808/909/TECHNO kits plus the RUST/FORGE/PISTON/HURT kits

Felucca with a very distinct aesthetic: “dark, industrial and Brazilian” — rust, worn tape, manguebeat (Chico Science & Nação Zumbi), NIN texture. Its signature is the drones that breathe: you hold a chord and a slow random-walk modulation keeps it evolving for minutes while you play the other tracks.

Workflow

Live ambient/industrial performance, drone work and a 4-track groovebox; sound design through interoperability with Dexed (live two-way MIDI editing). The browser Studio runs the firmware’s DSP as sample-accurate WASM, and there are web and Linux-terminal installers. Conscious — and credited — imports of ideas from SLOOP, Salt and Melodee.

Engines & what it emulates

Ten engines. ANALOG (superwave of up to 6 detuned copies, a 4-pole 24 dB/oct Moog transistor ladder with saturated feedback, and per-voice saturation: tube/hard/ wavefolder), FM6 (Dexed msfa, 32 algorithms, two 32-voice DX7 banks in flash), DIGITAL (4-op), PHASE, LOFI, SAMPLE, VOICE, TRIO, WHEEL and GRAIN. On drums: the RUST, FORGE, PISTON, HURT kits and the MANGUE (alfaia, zabumba, gonguê, agogô, cuíca) with factory maracatu/baião/coco beats, plus 32 synthesized kits and GM; the “NORD” scale from the Brazilian northeast.

What sets it apart

  • 16 parameters per engine (Felucca has 8); a modulation matrix with 13 sources including 4 live macro knobs; a drone page (HOLD/EVOL/TENS/RAMP); 93 factory presets.
  • A 64-step sequencer with ratchets — contributed upstream to Felucca (PR #100) —, chance, micro-timing, 12 p-locks and fills; per-track distortion (FUZZ/FOLD/CRUSH/RING) and a TAPE/HUM/DUST/DUCK/DJ-FILT master; 16 punch-ins.
  • Reproducible builds with CI; OSC/SONAR/VU/MAR visualizers; USB audio.

Status & caveats

Beta but very active — four releases on October 10 alone. Important detail: it has had its own USB identity since 0.2 (the device presents itself as “Jangada”), so Felucca’s installer can’t see it: use its own installer. The OCT− rescue has been proven on a real interrupted flash write.
